This is made up of bits of his beat poetry from all over the place. It’s my collage of Allen Ginsberg rocking the big crowds. Included are excerpts from “America”, “Returning North of Vortex”, “Planet News”, “Iron Horse” and “Kiss Ass”.
The feeling the band and I were going for was 70’s Rock Concert and Campus demos.
The beat generation speaks here of disenfanchised trust and hope with a post-war America obsessed with drug-free conformity.
"America" spits at a shallow, and paranoid America guarded by mom's apple pie values and the FBI. In contrast to how Ginsberg's "Howl" idealistically pricks America's conscience in retrospect for watching a generation of beat poets descend into a gutter of madness and introspection.
